Tzipi Livni wins primary election in Israel this week
A worldwide trends appears to be emerging, with the world public seeking the fresh perspectives of political outsiders over experienced insiders, as leaders. Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni narrowly won the primary of the governing Kadima party and she is on track to become Israel’s first woman prime minister in 34 years.
Ms. Livni worked as a Mossad Agent in Israel’s foreign secret service, then an attorney and turned to politics a decade ago. Current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert committed his full cooperation to his Foreign Minister and congratulated her.
Critics say it is difficult to predict if she will be a strong Prime Minister because she has limited political experience. But that is seen as a positive to the public whose current Prime Minister is facing multiple corruption investigations. Supporters say “Mrs Clean” is a break from the past. These same arguments are often heard in the current US elections surrounding Barack Obama’s candidacy.
The 50-year-old Livni is married with two children and is seen as having a more peaceful diplomatic approach to issues. Critics suggested she may be too weak for the job in an intensely male environment. Livni responded by telling the Jerusalem Post "The fact that I'm a woman doesn't make me a weak leader. It's not that generals pull the trigger and women don't. I have no problem pulling the trigger when necessary."

I’m not an expert when it comes to this. Didn’t even know this was possible. Useful read, appreciate your posting this.
