Uncanny 2005 TV show “Commander in Chief” projected Sarah Palin

Does art imitate life or vice versa?  It seems life in America may be following the 2005 drama about the first female vice president turned president, Mackenzie Allen.  The resemblances are absolutely uncanny.  Does anyone know if John McCain was a big fan?

Geena Davis portrayed the main character.  When asked to run on the ticket, she was initially skeptical because of her lack of experience (she had only served 4 years in congress).  But she eventually agreed, was elected VP and when the President dies from a sudden aneurysm, she takes a seat in the oval office.  Much drama ensues because “she was only supposed to get him elected, she was never supposed to actually serve as president.”  But the forty-something, wife, mother and controversial politician is not about to step down.

I personally enjoyed the series although I referred to it as “Commander and Chef” because of all the mommy-in-the-kitchen-scenes.

Her first act as president is to step in and save a Nigerian Muslim woman who had “sex outside of marriage” and was sentenced to death by stoning.  I think the flagrant government-sanctioned abuse of women worldwide is an issue worthy of our intervention, but WWSD?
