McCain's daughter not permitted to drive
Today I noticed that John McCain’s website talks about his 17 year old daughter who is “looking forward to getting her driver's permit soon.” Arizona law allows teens to get their permit at age 15 and 7 months. I don’t know about you, but most kids I knew got their permits and licenses just hours past the deadline, not months or years!
What does it say about the 72-year-old candidate’s perspective on women’s rights when his own daughter is not able to exercise her right to drive? Does he not believe that young women should be raised to be independent?
This man cannot be allowed to appoint one single supreme court justice!

Maybe it was his daughter's wish not to get her driver's license till later. I know of some teenagers that did not have their driver's license after the age of 18....and it was their own doing.

We should every night call ourselves to an account; What infirmity have I mastered today? What passions opposed? What temptation resisted? What virtue acquired? Our vices will abort of themselves if they be brought every day to the shrift.

Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R&D. It's not about money. It's about the people you have, how you're led, and how much you get it.

I'm struck by the insidious, computer-driven tendency to take things out of the domain of muscular activity and put them into the domain of mental activity. The transfer is not paying off. Sure, muscles are unreliable, but they represent several million years of accumulated finesse.

A tactical retreat is not a bad response to a surprise assault, you know. First you survive. Then you choose your own ground. Then you counterattack.
